NEW SHANE ACTION FIGURE

A new action figure of Shane is being released as part of Pay Per View Series 21 which also includes Edge, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton and Jack Swagger. The Shane figure looks very similar to his Classic Superstars one, he's in black pants and a blue Shane O'Mac jersey. The figure is scheduled to be released in early November, but you can see and pre-order it now from Ringside Collectibles here. :)

STEPHANIE ASKED ABOUT SHANE
At this past Sunday’s Bragging Rights pay-per-view, Bucky Palermo, a longtime friend of the McMahons, came to the show and spoke to Stephanie McMahon. He asked to speak to Vince (who eventually spoke to him) and then Shane. When asked about Shane, Stephanie told him, “He doesn’t work here anymore” — as opposed to saying he’s not here and is leaving the company. When asked what happened, she said, “I don’t know.”

WWE STORYLINE PITCHED REGARDING SHANE
F4WOnline.com reports that SmackDown! writer Michael Hayes recently pitched an idea to creatively “write Shane McMahon out of the promotion.”

All indications are that he brought the idea up privately in front of the writers, as opposed to in front of Vince or Stephanie McMahon, as Shane’s resignation remains a taboo discussion topic backstage.

Wrestlers are still not getting much in the way of information on what drove McMahon’s decision. Triple H has been telling fellow wrestlers that he knows nothing more than the other talent about the situation, although many are skeptical of that alleged reality.

MENTION OF SHANE IN A RECENT STEPHANIE INTERVIEW
Many thanks to Jessica for sending this through to me - Stephanie did an interview with Powerslam magazine on September 18th at the weigh-in for the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight in Las Vegas and she was asked a question about Shane. While this is obviously before Shane announced his resignation, I think Stephanie's answer gives an interesting little insight into the relationship between the two of them both professionally and personally. And the whole tag thing is so cute. :)

Your older brother Shane is WWE's Executive Vice President, Global Media. As driven people in positions of authority in the same company, is there any sibling rivalry between you?
Our roles don't exactly cross over that much. But I can't deny that we are, and always have been, competitive. Even now, as grown adults, after meetings we still play 'touched you last' - you know, like tag. We'll come out all serious, and then he'll tag me and shout, 'touched you last!' and then run away. (Shane's) the head of the International operation, so our paths cross when we do international live events - but we tend to work well together. I think our type of competition is a good kind: it drives us both on and makes the business better. But I cannot forsee a day when my dad (Vince McMahon) hands over the reins to either of us. He's still very much in charge -- and, trust me, everyone knows it.

HISTORY: RAW - OCTOBER 25TH, 1999

Backstage while Shane McMahon and Test engaged in conversation in the background, Michael Hayes interviewed Stephanie McMahon who told him that she was feeling near-100 percent again, and that she wanted Test to beat an apology out of the Bulldog.

The British Bulldog took on Test in a Steel Cage Match. The two superstars went at each other like rabid dogs, and each competitor had fire in his eyes. Bulldog hammered Test with a vertical suplex and a powerslam, but Test recovered before his opponent could escape. Test threw the Bulldog down to the mat and elbowed him from the top of the cage! The Mean Street Posse appeared and entered the cage to attack Test. Suddenly, Shane McMahon ran out, scaled the outside of the cage, and leaped from the top onto the Posse! Meanwhile, the Bulldog disappeared from the ring area. The Posse regained control and obliterated their former friend with spears and powerbombs until Test reappeared to help his brother-in-law-to-be.

EDGE AND ZIGGLER COMMENT ON SHANE
Edge called into the Bubba the Love Sponge Show last Tuesday. When asked about Shane McMahon leaving the company, he said he was really surprised. He said it's really hard to work with Vince McMahon and be his son at the same time.

In an interview with SLAM! Wrestling, Dolph Ziggler revealed his thoughts on the sudden resignation of WWE Executive Vice-President of Global Media Shane McMahon, tendered October 16 and effective January 1, 2010.

"It was a shock to most of us. He's [Shane] been a really great guy all the times I came in contact with him. An awesome guy. He was always trying to go above and beyond for our product, so I'm sure whatever he's moving on to, he's going to be great at it and blow it out for the water," he said.

MORE PEOPLE DISCUSS SHANE LEAVING WWE
Cody Rhodes was the special guest on this week's edition of the wrestling radio show Monday Night Mayhem and talked about Shane leaving WWE.

With the aftermath of the resignation of Shane McMahon still ringing at Titan Towers, the last time Cody was on the show, there was some issues between Legacy (led by Randy Orton) & the McMahon family (with Shane in particular). Mosh asked Cody for his comments on what Shane did for him during his time in the WWE to this point, and what his candid thoughts are on Shane's WWE departure. "If your last name is McMahon, you are always a part of the WWE. And yes he is stepping down to pursue other things in his life & career, and I wish him the best of luck. The way that guy comes in the ring and does the shuffle & brings it, that's the same you'll get anywhere. Whatever field he enters, he'll bring that same passion, and they'll be better for it."

Former WWE Head Of Security Jimmy Noonan discussed Shane leaving the WWE on last week's live edition of Monday Night Mayhem.

The biggest news within the wrestling world is that of the resignation of Shane McMahon from World Wrestling Entertaiment (effective January 1, 2010). No one really knows why he made this decision, and rumors are indeed swirling regarding his reasons & what lies ahead for "Shane-O-Mac." What better man to discuss this newsworthy topic than someone who was deep in the company for many years...someone like Jimmy Noonan.

"The difference with Shane from the rest of the family is first of all, Shane is fearless. He's got a lot of entrepreneur in him, and watch this name...Dana White (UFC President) in him. But the thing about Shane is that Shane has street smarts. No one else in the family has the street smarts that Shane McMahon has." He went onto state that it was assumed that Shane would run the company some day. "Everything you read on the Internet in the last 20 years stated that Shane would eventually run the WWE. In the last five-to-six years, it became obvious that Shane was not going to run the company. Once Vince is gone, a girl named Stephanie & her husband Triple H were going to run the company." What does Jimmy think Shane will end up doing in 2010 & beyond? "I could see him going into the movies, I could see him starting another fed & going against the family. Maybe he will buy TNA, even though I don't see that happening but you never know. You're talking about a powerful kid who will be successful in anything he does."

Todd Vincent went on to say that this could be the biggest story in the last eight years (since the WWE bought World Championship Wrestling & the "Invasion" storyline/angle that followed), and responded to some of the speculation that Shane was reportedly angry at the way the company was being run. Jimmy followed up "The Chairman Of The Board" by giving some of his own personal feelings on the McMahons & how the talent over the years have embraced Shane more than his sister: "Shane is loved by everyone in the WWE. He just has a way about him. Everybody is terrified of Stephanie, that's not to say they don't like her. Stephanie, in a lot of ways, has more power in the business than Vince."

SOME PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT SHANE'S DECISION
Over the past week there's been a lot of speculation and people sharing their thoughts, feelings and theories on the decision that Shane made to submit his resignation and leave the WWE. I've been posting and reading a lot of this but until now haven't shared my own personal thoughts on the situation, and honestly I'm still not sure even now that I've got the right words for how I'm feeling about it. Obviously the news came as a shock and was completely unexpected, and was not only initially upsetting but has continued to be very sad to think about as the story has unfolded.

I think J.R. was one of the people who put it best - that no one knows why Shane seemingly abruptly decided to leave the family business, and we won't know the reason until he himself makes an official statement and declares what his next venture is going to be. Until then all we have to go on is speculation - and while some have been critical of that speculation, as I've said I think it's understandable that people are wanting to continue to talk about it. Right now it's the major point of interest for Shane fans for obvious reasons, it's also the major news in the wrestling world as a whole. And it will likely be ongoing as the speculation will hopefully eventually give way to more official news and details on why Shane decided to leave and/or what is next for him.

Whether he is going to pursue outside business opportunities and launch his own company or do something in MMA, or join with Marissa in her film company, or support Linda in her Senatorial campaign, or do something else entirely, or whether his plans are outside of business and he's going to simply spend more time at home with his family - no matter what is next for Shane, I wish him nothing but the best for his professional and personal life, and genuinely hope that he does whatever makes him happy and is right for him and his family. And Shane's departure from the WWE is not going to mean the end for this site by any means, I can assure you that S-M.net is going to continue on, and personally I will continue to support Shane and proudly be a fan of his as I have been for the last 11 years.

MORE NEWS UPDATES
As of this week, nobody who is talking within WWE has any idea what caused Shane McMahon's resignation from WWE or what he plans on doing next. People who worked under Shane are said to be shocked and devastated, saying it came completely out of left field. The department that Shane was in charge of always has had great morale and word is that all the good morale plummeted on Friday when the announcement came out. A lot of people were very worried about their future with the company and there was talk that layoffs might be coming.

Shane was flooded with calls over the weekend and he pretty much told everyone the same thing he said in his official statement. It is very likely that the only people who know what is going on are Shane, Vince McMahon and perhaps Linda or Stephanie. Even people who spoke with Triple H had the impression that he didn't know really what went down.

While Vince had good things to say about Shane's departure in the release, word within WWE is that Vince went on a complete rampage (as our own Brian Cantor reported yesterday) when the news came out and everyone was doing anything they could to not be seen. The release was issued early Friday morning because they were concerned that the news would leak out and be on other wrestling websites before WWE broke it. Vince's behavior suggests that Shane might not be leaving to work on his mother's Senate campaign, which has been speculated. The reports of Vince flipping out may be a bit hyped up because we do know that Shane was in the office on Friday and Monday. Shane will continue working for WWE until January 1st of 2010.

It's still unknown what Shane plans on doing with his future. There is a lot of speculation that he will jump into the world of promoting MMA and it's no secret that he's a huge fan and has had interest before in getting involved. One source close to Shane says he is very intrigued by the TV and film business and could end up there but as noted above, nobody right now knows what's next for Shane. Shane is playing it smart by not talking about his plans. Most expect that he will be approached with lots of offers in the next few months.

There was a lot of people in WWE who were nervous when the story broke because they saw it as Vince's son had decided it was time to get out of the family business, for whatever reason. Some are concerned that Shane feels the WWE ship has sailed and is getting out so he doesn't go down with it.

While the motivation behind Shane McMahon's resignation is still largely a mystery, F4WOnline.com reports that the situation was intense enough to cause Vince McMahon to go on a "complete rampage" the morning the resignation was announced. Even though most do not believe any sort of major family blowup occurred, the McMahon reaction does seemingly indicate the resignation was about more than Linda's Senate campaign.

This week on Cornette's Commentary on the Who's Slamming Who podcast, Jim Cornette talks about Shane leaving the WWE. You can listen to the full podcast here and Tracey also posted a recap over at TSAR.

Former WWE creative team member Seth Mates posted a blog at Newsday.com with his theory on why Shane McMahon has resigned from WWE. "It's been widely assumed since I worked there (and probably before) that Stephanie and Triple H would be the ones taking over the "Vince" reins one day.

"And while there was speculation that Shane would take over the business end from his mother (and still might), I always got the impression that as much as Shane loves the wrestling business, he always wanted to see what was out there. If that is the case, and if Shane's leaving WWE to make his own mark and test the waters, then he's absolutely doing the right thing." You can read the full blog here.
