Back from commercial and we see some of the London scenery before seeing Shane McMahon give props backstage to Batista for his match. Batista says everything is cool from last week but Shane says he didn't appreciate what Batista did and Batista says he doesn't appreciate what Shane did. Shane says they're good as long as they keep focus on Backlash and walk off smiling at each other.

Later backstage, Shane spoke to Triple H about being a hot head. He reminded him that Orton could win the belt if one of the babyfaces is disqualified at the pay-per-view. Hunter said it wouldn't be a problem because he's getting it all out of his system later in the show.

During the Triple H vs Randy Orton main event, Rhodes and DiBiase rush the ring and beat Triple H down. Shane runs down and lays out DiBiase and then Rhodes. DiBiase dumps Shane to the floor. Legacy beat Triple H back down as Batista runs down. He clotheslines DiBiase and Rhodes then spears Orton. Batista goes to spear Cody but Cody ducks and he nails Shane. Batista throws Ted to the floor but Cody sends Batista to the floor. Triple H sends Cody to the floor. Triple H turns around to a big RKO from Randy Orton to get the pinfall and the win.

After the match, Legacy heads to the back as we cut to replays. Triple H and Batista regroup in the ring and help Shane to his feet. The two teams stare each other down as RAW goes off the air.

Cody Rhodes def. Shane McMahon by disqualification

Though they’ll be facing one another as part of the WWE Championship Tag Team Match at Backlash, Shane McMahon and Cody Rhodes had a chance to face one another one-on-one in the main event of WWE Superstars’ first episode. After explaining how The Legacy member is just as sick and twisted as his mentor Randy Orton, Shane O’Mac took to the ring, hoping to exact some payback from Rhodes. In an effort to make this extremely personal match a fair one, all of Shane and Cody’s associates were banned from ringside, including WWE Champion Triple H, Batista, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase, but even their absence couldn’t prevent this contest from spiraling out of control. After the hot-headed Shane was disqualified for hitting Rhodes with a chair, he continued to attack the second-generation Superstar, pummeling him and even sealing the deal with the Coast-to-Coast.

After returning to WWE the week before, Batista opened Raw on the night of the Draft with vengeance on his mind. Though he’ll have a chance to meet Randy Orton in the ring as part of the WWE Championship Tag Team Match at Backlash, The Animal made clear his desire to face The Legend Killer on Raw and take revenge for the vicious punt that kept him from the ring for months. But Batista wasn’t the only competitor with his sights set on Orton, as he was joined in the ring by both Shane McMahon and WWE Champion Triple H, who both wanted to get their hands on the venomous Superstar for what his attacks on Stephanie McMahon and the WWE Chairman himself, Mr. McMahon.

As the three argued over who would get first dibs on Orton, they were interrupted by Vickie Guerrero. Raw’s new General Manager announced that only one of them would get the opportunity to face The Legend Killer before Backlash, and that they would have to earn it. Guerrero then placed WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match against The Legacy for later in the night. Whoever scores the pinfall on either Rhodes or DiBiase will have earned themselves a match against Orton on the next Raw, but if The Legacy prevails, then none of “The Viper’s” enemies will be able to get their hands on him.

In Raw’s main event, there wasn’t a Draft pick on the line, but instead something far more valuable to the competitors: An opportunity to exact retribution from Randy Orton. With the ring warrior scoring the pinfall earning a match against The Legend Killer on the next Raw, WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon were more concerned with getting a victory for themselves than with working as a team. As Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase did their best to take advantage of their opponents’ strife, their opponents did themselves no favors, with Shane going so far as to break up Batista’s pin. As The Animal and Shane O’Mac argued, however, Triple H took advantage of the situation to pin Ted DiBiase after a devastating Pedigree, dashing The Legacy’s hopes of keeping their leader out of competition the following week.

BACKLASH MATCH PREVIEW

WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton & The Legacy

For months, Randy Orton and The Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase) terrorized Triple H’s extended family, all in an effort to aide The Legend Killer in his quest to win The Game’s WWE Title at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania. The WWE Champion rebuffed Orton’s challenge, but over the months leading up to The Greatest Spectacle in Entertainment, their rivalry grew far too personal to be settled with a single match. At Backlash, two factions with deep-seated enmity for one another will meet as WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon take on Randy Orton & The Legacy, with The Game’s WWE Title at stake.

The night after the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania saw a bitter Orton take to the ring, incensed over his loss to Triple H. As he railed against the manner in which The Game obtained victory, the venomous Superstar was interrupted by the man he had incapacitated with a brutal punt, Mr. McMahon himself. The WWE Chairman denied Orton’s request for a rematch and instead placed him in another contest at Backlash, where The Legend Killer & The Legacy would go up against McMahon, his son Shane & his son-in-law, WWE Champion Triple H. Orton continued to hurl invective at his employer, prompting the WWE Chairman to place himself in a match against Orton later in the night.

Later in the evening, Vickie Guerrero announced that during the Six-Man Tag Team Match, the WWE Title would be on the line. Raw’s new GM clarified that if anyone from Triple H’s team won the match, he would retain the title, but if Orton or his cohorts tasted victory, then The Legend Killer would become the new WWE Champion. Whether because Orton was right about his employer, or the viper-like Superstar’s underhanded tactics were just too devious, things didn’t go well for Mr. McMahon.

As The Legacy joined their leader in the ring, The Legend Killer prepared to deliver another sadistic punt to the WWE Chairman’s head. Though both Shane McMahon and Triple H attempted to stop the cruel act, it was the returning Batista who was able to defend his employer, chasing the multi-generational Superstars from the ring. After The Animal’s shocking appearance, McMahon revised the match once again, replacing himself with Batista.

Though Randy Orton might not be taking place in the match he wanted, he will have another opportunity to obtain the WWE Title at Backlash, as he and The Legacy take part in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. But with Shane O’Mac and the returning Batista at WWE Champion Triple H’s side, will even Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase be enough to turn the odds in Orton’s favor?

To find out of Orton can continue his Legacy, make sure to watch Backlash, live on pay-per-view.

RAW RESULTS - APRIL 6TH 2009

Randy Orton opened Raw, bitter over his loss to WWE Champion Triple H the night before at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania. Before he could get further into his threats against The Game and the entire McMahon family however, he was interrupted by the WWE Chairman himself. Mr. McMahon told the venomous Superstar that he wouldn’t be getting a rematch, but that he would get to face Triple H again at Backlash, only in a Six-Man Tag Team Match, featuring Triple H, Mr. McMahon & Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton & The Legacy. The insolent Superstar then began to insult his employer for both hiding behind his family and being too old to compete on his own. Not one to stand down from a challenge, Mr. McMahon placed himself into the night’s main event against Orton.

In the night’s main event, Randy Orton attempted to prove his point about Mr. McMahon’s in-ring abilities. In the midst of putting a hurting on the WWE Chairman, he was interrupted by McMahon’s son, Shane, who attacked The Legend Killer. But Orton had help of his own waiting in the wings in the form of Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, who rushed to their leader’s aid, teaming up on Shane O’Mac. WWE Champion Triple H then emerged, but he too fell victim to the combined might of The Legacy.

As Orton and his cohorts pummeled The Game, they were shocked to find out there was more opposition that they hadn’t counted on: The returning Batista. The Animal stormed down the entrance ramp, evening the odds by chasing Orton & DiBiase from the ring and laying out Rhodes with a Batista Bomb. As the WWE Chairman recovered, he announced that Batista would be taking his place in the Six-Man Tag Team Match at Backlash.
