NEWS UPDATES ON SHANE'S RESIGNATION
WWE executive Shane McMahon's sudden departure from WWE, effective January 1, is still a mystery to many people in WWE. One former WWE writer put it like this: "I think it could be one of a hundred things. But only two people know. Shane and Vince."

Jim Ross tried to quiet down speculation by saying there is no new information on Shane's departure after WWE pulled a "hit and run" by dropping a major news item on a Friday, then waiting for it blow over after the weekend. "No one knows why Shane seemingly abruptly decided to leave the family business and I don't feel that any one will know the reason until he declares what his next venture will be," Ross said on jrsbarbq.com.

There's nothing new to report on Shane McMahon's resignation from WWE. I've spoken with a number of people and no one knows why he resigned or what's next for Shane. Multiple sources have stated their opinion that Shane was never going to get the keys to the castle and are speculating that this could have played a part in his decision, but nothing is official. There are still some sources who believe it's related to his mother's campaign, but even that is just speculation.

    HISTORY: SMACKDOWN - SEPTEMBER 9TH, 1999

Test and Stephanie McMahon come down together to the ring, looking happy. They get a huge pop. Stephanie calls out Jerry Brisco, Pat Patterson and Linda McMahon. Steph says that their wedding has been set for October 11 live on RAW. Steph invites all the crowd to the wedding. The Mean Street Posse with Terri Runnels make their way down to the ring to a lot of heat. Steph gets angry and she tells everyone to leave them alone.

Shane O'Mac arrives on the scene to a huge amount of heat. Shane tells the Posse to leave and he indicates that the war with Test is over. McMahon says he is deeply sorry for his recent actions with Test, and says he was very wrong. Shane confesses that it is very hard for him to see his little sister, Stephanie as a grown woman. There are asshole chants and Shane says he deserves that. Shane tells Stephanie that she has his blessing to get married, and he tells Test that he'd better always treat her right. Shane extends a hand to Test and the two men shake in truce. Shane hugs Stephanie and Linda before leaving the ring.

    PHOTOS FROM JAPAN AND CHINA

Many thanks to Sara for sharing these photos of Shane overseas which she originally posted over at TSAR. There are 2 from Japan - one from a supershow in Saitama in July 2005, and one which appears to be from when Shane was in Tokyo for the opening of the WWE's international office in June 2008. And there are 33 from Shane's trip to China in December 2008 - at a hotel press conference for the launch of WWE's Chinese website, at a live performance of "Kung Fu Legend" and at a fan event at Soho Bar.

There are also two videos which can be watched online here and here.

MORE ON SHANE IN J.R.'S LATEST BLOG
No website has any definitive news on why Shane McMahon resigned from his family's company, WWE, on Friday. Perhaps more news sites will elaborate on this matter come Monday as Friday is always the best day to drop big news as sometimes it gets somewhat lost on the weekend. Nonetheless no one knows why Shane seemingly abruptly decided to leave the family business and I don't feel that any one will know the reason until he declares what his next venture will be. Shane has a great formal education not to mention years of "on the job" training since starting out on the ring crew as a teen during the summers. I know Shane has many interests and who's to say that he simply wants to reassess where he is in his life and spend more time with his family which includes two sons? Until Shane himself makes an official statement as to what he is going to tee up next, then every thing any one can read, report or write about is pure speculation. Shane has excellent people skills and a unique skill set in a one of a kind genre that employs basic promotional and organization skills that should be transferable to many businesses.

NEWS ON SHANE'S WWE ROLE AND HIS DEPARTURE
Even though Shane McMahon is resigning from his WWE post next year, he is continuing to work his day-to-day role, which indicates there was no underlying reason why he quit. Incidently, close friends of Shane McMahon are unaware what he will do next.

McMahon has apparently remained pleasant and comfortable in his role as WWE's EVP of Global Media, showing no indications that he will have trouble working for WWE has he prepares for his January 2010 departure.

While that does seem to rule out the idea that he had some sort of major blowup with his family, sources are also quick to question reports that he is leaving specifically to work with mother Linda McMahon on her Senatorial campaign.

While he may very well contribute to the political effort, the feeling is that something else motivated his resignation. As his resignation was viewed as unexpected internally and was not labeled as related to Linda's Senate campaign in WWE's press release, logic--in addition to the words of sources close to the situation--says that the political campaign was not the sole driver.

There's also an interesting report that's been posted on a number of news sites with a former assistant of Stephanie's commenting on the relationships between the McMahon's and the departure of Shane.

  • Former Stephanie McMahon assistant shares first-hand perspective on Shane McMahon working in WWE and leaving the company | Read Article

According to F4WOnline.com, the above perspective has been heavily ripped by numerous past WWE employees and insiders. Their report says that numerous insiders dismissed the Witt analysis as incorrect. One said his opinion would be the exact opposite, several others disagreed, and only one was willing to accept the Witt side of the story.

MORE NEWS ON SHANE LEAVING WWE
To say those working for World Wrestling Entertainment were shocked when the announcement came that Shane McMahon was leaving the company at the beginning of the year would be a huge understatement. There was no notice to anyone, not even those working directly under McMahon, that this was brewing.

There's been no definitive word as to McMahon's future plans, but the general expectation within WWE has been that Shane must be going to work with his mother, Linda, on her Senatorial bid for the State of Connecticut. Again, that is conjecture from some within the company, not hard fact.

The latest on Shane McMahon leaving WWE is that it is legit, and not a storyline. WWE issued a press release on their corporate website, which gives the departure more creditability that this in fact true.

There is no word on why Shane left the company. Vince has come down hard on his son over the past several years and it could have played a part. It could also be possible that he wanted to pursue other interests. Shane is a huge mixed martial arts fan and has tried to convince his father to get involved in the market a few years ago. He could join an existing MMA promotion or launch his own company.

Most within the company seem to think Shane left so he can join his mother Linda McMahon during her U.S. Senate campaign, and to avoid upsetting WWE’s shareholders while helping with the campaign. "Unless he's going to fund a vanity venture, all signs point to him helping his mother (with the campaign)," said one former WWE employee. "She needs some backup."

BLOG FROM J.R. ABOUT SHANE'S RESIGNATION
It was announced Friday morning that Shane McMahon has resigned from WWE effective January 1, 2010 to pursue other business opportunities.

"I feel that this the opportune time to pursue outside business opportunities," Shane said in a written statement sent to staff and then documented on WWE.com.

This comes as a major surprise to many including me. Shane is a proud, 4th generation wrestling person who has worked with WWE essentially his entire live starting on the ring crew.

Shane has always been one of the shining stars within the WWE organization and it will be interesting to see what his next business endeavors entail.

We'll keep eveyone informed as information becomes available. However, we wish Shane and his family the best in what ever he chooses to do as I have always had a great repore with him and Shahe has earned the respect of all who have worked with him.

Again, this is a major surprise from within the WWE organization.

    SHANE'S STATEMENT ON HIS RESIGNATION
It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation from the WWE, effective January 1, 2010.

I have never even considered a future outside the walls of the WWE. However, sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and while it is the most difficult decision I have ever made, it is time for me to move on.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my father for the incredible education working with him has provided and for giving me the opportunity to play a role in building WWE into the global phenomenon that it is today. I am extremely proud to have been the 4th generation in this business, and I am grateful for everyday I was able to work along side not only my own, but the entire WWE family.

Thank you to all of the WWE Superstars both past and present for your passion, pride and dedication. You are truly the engine of the organization and it has been a pleasure to work with, learn from and get to know all of you. Thank you for the privilege of sharing the stage with you and for allowing me to become but a momentary member of your elite brotherhood. I have so much appreciation for the many sacrifices you endure, both physically and personally, to make this business the success that it is. The respect I have for each of you is immeasurable.

Finally, there are no words to express my gratitude to WWE fans the world over for supporting this company through good times and bad and for your unbridled passion that fuels the Superstars’ performances. I am profoundly grateful to have been able to entertain you both in front of the camera and from behind the scenes. You are the greatest fans in the world.

I will always love this business and will remain a fan forever.

    Shane
